$15 - Get your original lyrics critiqued - only $15!

Have you written a song that you'd like to demo, but you're not sure if it's ready?
Do you know what artists, publishers, pluggers and label reps are looking for?
Do you know what makes a great song lyrically?

I've been writing songs for over 30 years.  I've programmed radio and picked hits before they were hits.  I've lived in Nashville for over 15 years, playing out at writer's nights, networking, and working with a variety of songwriters and learning the things that can make or break a song.  Save money - don't demo the song until you're sure it's ready.

"Good song are written.  Great songs are re-written."  - Jack Keller
(Bobby Vee - Run To Him; Connie Francis - Everybody's Somebody's Fool;
TV Themes for "Bewitched" and "Hazel", and many more)

While others charge between $50 and $100 per critique, I can offer a solid, professional, detailed critique of your original song for $15 USD.  Use the email address below to send your lyrics, and make your payment via PayPal, and click "service".

IMPORTANT: Make sure you have protected your lyrics before sending, either via the Library of Congress, or using the "poor man's copyright".  For more info on copyrights, click here.  $15 charge is for one complete 3-minute song.  There is no guarantee, written or implied, that your song will be cut.  But in-depth, supportive critiques will show how to become a stronger writer.  Please allow 1-2 weeks for response.

Example
I suggested to the writer where this song needed to be stronger and why.  The writer took my advice.
The story is clearer, the lines are more precise, and the rhyme scheme didn't suffer for the art.
Here are the before and after lyrics to compare.

Before

After

On a day layered grey years ago
I broke him out, I drove him home
He said I was the only one to understand
No offense meant to my Mom and Dad
He knew I wouldn’t mind
We were two of a kind
As the clouds opened up he smiled

See the sun shine
It calms an uneasy mind
Reaches inside
Feel the sun shine

We noticed how the landscape had changed
How his past had been rearranged
The garden had been replaced by Queen Anne’s lace
Crumbling stone was all time had not erased
There was no one to blame
But it hurt just the same
As we left the car he looked up and smiled

See the sun shine
It warms your weary bones
All your worries gone
Feel the sun shine

We made our way up where the porch had stood
Would’ve taken more time and sat if we could
Though he leaned on my arm, his mind was clear
We both knew there wouldn’t be a next year

See the sun shine
I held his hand in case
See the sun shine
It lit his aged face
No regrets, not a trace
We felt the sun shine

When I find myself lost in clouds
I feel his smile, then the sun comes out

On a dark day, the day I was grown
I broke him out, I drove him home
He said I was the only one to understand
No offense was meant to my Mom and Dad

I didn’t drive far to find
We were two of a kind
As the clouds opened up he smiled

See the sun shine
It warms a weary mind
Bending the wheel
Feel the sun shine

We noticed the landscape had changed
How his past was rearranged
The garden was filled with Queen Anne’s lace
Seven stones on a hill with no hint of grace
I saw the burning inside
Was it still worth the ride?
As the path opened up he smiled

See the sun shine
It helps a heart unwind
Trusting to heal
Feel the sun shine

I lifted him up where the porch had stood
And steadied his frame among traces of wood

He leaned on my arm, though his mind was clear
We both knew there wouldn’t be a next year

See the sun shine
The daylight has to fade
See the sun shine
His faith would not be swayed
Thy will be done
Feel the sun shine

When I’m covered in rain-painted clouds
I see his smile, then the sun shines through

Disclaimer:
This song became a co-write, with permission from the original writer - someone I'd worked with prior.  All changes in the "after" lyric are mine.
It is not my practice to be a co-writer, only to advise where and why changes should be made.  This is an isolated incident.
It is strongly advised that you protect your song in some form beforehand.  It protects us both.
